Care Guide
Base layers & Training wear
Performance base layers and functional training garments come in a wide range of materials, with synthetic fabrics and wool being the most common. Designed to meet the demands of specific activities, intensity levels, and temperature ranges, these garments require proper care to ensure lasting comfort and optimal performance.
Synthetic garments
Performance base layers and training wear made from synthetic fibers, such as polyester and polyamide, help you stay dry and comfortable during high-intensity workouts.
To preserve their moisture-wicking and breathability features, follow these essential steps:
Tackle odors promptly
Wash your synthetic garments as soon as possible to prevent bad odors from setting in. If you can't wash them right away, just give them a quick rinse and/or allow them to dry completely before placing them in the laundry basket.
Handle fibers with care
Always use a gentle cycle when washing to protect the fibers and maintain the garment's function and overall durability.
Protect the stretch
Avoid tumble drying synthetic base layers and training wear, as high heat can damage their stretch properties. Air dry instead, preferably in a well-ventilated area, as synthetic materials dry quickly.
Preserve printed designs
To keep printed designs intact, turn garments with prints inside out before washing.
Follow care instructions
Adhere to the care label for specific washing and drying recommendations to ensure the longevity of your sportswear.
Wool-based garments
Wool is a natural fiber that has evolved over thousands of years. Its hair-like, curly structure excels at trapping air, creating a natural insulating layer to keep you warm in cold conditions. However, due to its delicate nature compared to synthetic fibers, wool-based training wear requires special care when washing.
Follow these key steps to preserve the quality and extend the lifespan of your wool garments:
Consider if the garment really needs washing
Wool has a remarkable ability to self-clean when exposed to fresh air, most effectively in damp conditions under the cover of a roof. Before resorting to machine washing, ask yourself if your wool garment actually needs it. Often, simply airing it out is enough.
Wash in cold water
Always wash wool garments in cold water to prevent shrinkage and maintain their natural insulating properties. The preferred washing temperature for wool garments is 30 °C (also called "Cold wash") with a gentle cycle.
Use gentle detergents only
Choose wool-specific or mild detergents that won’t harm the fiber’s natural oils or cause other damage.
Air dry
The delicate wool fiber is very sensitive to high temperatures. Air drying is therefore the recommended drying method.
Avoid wringing
Instead of wringing out wool garments, gently press them between towels to remove excess water, if necessary, and then lay them flat to dry.
Follow care instructions
Consult the care label for specific washing and drying recommendations to ensure long-lasting performance of your wool-based sportswear.
Mix of wool and synthetic fibers
Some of our base layers and training garments are crafted from fabric blends that include synthetic fibers and wool. These items may be suitable for washing according to the care instructions for synthetic fabrics. However, always check the care label for specific washing and maintenance instructions.
